HASHIMOTO'S IS NOT SIMPLY A THYROID DISEASE, IT IS AN AUTO-IMMUNE CONDITION
Estimations of Hashimoto’s thyroiditis is approximately that one in five women will be affected with Hashimoto’s or another thyroid disorder at some point in their lives. Hashimoto’s can activate around puberty, during pregnancy or after pregnancy and perimenopause. Hormone fluctuations affect the immune system and thus can activate Hashimoto’s. Patients often asked me how did I get a room thyroid. Hashimotos is a very common disorder and the affects 1 to 2% of the US population. Approximately, 85-90% of hypothyroidism is due to autoimmune. This is the reason why many patients on thyroid replacement fail to feel significant improvements in a variety of areas when just taking thyroid replacement.
Usually people acquire an autoimmune thyroid from the following three factors:
1) genetics
2) a triggering event such a stress or infection
3) hyper-intestinal permeability or leaky gut syndrome, occurring in the small intestine
A lot of patients I have seen over the years who suffer from multiple symptoms including exhaustion, joint pain, rapid heartbeat, brain fog, headaches, anxiety, PMS, and ongoing GI disorder often have Hashimoto’s but are not aware of it . This ends up being a big problem for the patient, as they may being treated for a variety of symptoms with pharmaceuticals, but these medicines , in the realms of many autoimmune diseases including Hashimoto’s, are treating symptoms not causes. This leaves the patient feeling unwell, confused, and FRUSTRATED with their health problems as they often not aware of their Hashimoto’s Thyroiditis!
Auto immunity is considered progressive. A person diagnosed with Hashimoto’s is at greater risk for other autoimmune diseases including Type 1 diabetes, celiac disease, and many others. There’s not a single cell in your body that doesn’t depend upon thyroid hormones in some way. In other words, trouble with your thyroid and autoimmune against this crucial gland can lead to trouble just about anywhere in the body.
Healing from Hashimoto’s requires a multipronged approach which may address metabolic concerns, immune modulation, gut rehab, chronic infection challenges, reducing stress physiology, tracking food intolerances, addressing anemias and liver function.
We understand that many people with Hashimoto’s are unwell in multiple areas, and will continue to suffer until an evidence-based, affordable plan individualized plan is developed for them.

"I was referred to Dr. Gorla from my dentist for ongoing allergies. I also suffered for years with chronic fatigue, fibromyalgia, thyroid issues, hormones problems, and weight gain. I was looking for a functional medicine doctor who would treat me as a whole person rather than focusing on my random symptoms. My previous doctors had put me on numerous pain meds, that are highly addictive, and I did not want to become a drug addict and these meds were only addressing a small part of my health problems. The results with Dr. Gorla's wellness plan have been tremendous. I now have great energy, no longer suffer from chronic body pain, I've had improvement in my allergies, my blood work has improved across 12 different markers and I have lost 28 lbs. I cannot say enough about the education I received from Dr. Gorla as it has been life-changing!"
