Acupuncture
"Acupuncture has changed the quality of my life dramatically!" -Felicia, Boone

Energy circulates throughout the body along defined pathways, called meridians. The meridians allow the doctor to adjust organ function based on their clinical presentation and diagnosis. Points on the skin along these meridians are physiologically connected to specific organs and functional systems. If energy and blood circulation is disrupted, optimal function is affected, resulting in symptoms, pain, or illness. Acupuncture points are stimulated to reduce inflammation, modulate the immune system, strengthen the organ system, and regulate the nervous systems, which in turn influences the health of the whole person. This is why an acupuncture doctor can treat a person for multiple complaints at the same time.

Acupuncture Regulates Many Systems
Research confirms that acupuncture has an impact on the nervous, digestive, immune, respiratory, and endocrine systems.  The World Health Organization (WHO) states acupuncture is effective in the treatment of over 30 conditions, and the National Institute of Health (NIH) has cited acupuncture to be useful in the treatment of chronic painful conditions.

What About The Needles?

Acupuncture needles are quite thin, about the size of a hair, solid, and nothing is injected through them; acupuncture is a painless process. Blue Ridge Acupuncture uses the higest quality of needles which are both sterial, single use, and disposable. Dr. Gorla is very skillful at inserting the needle, and many patients don't even feel or know that the needles are being inserted.

In some cases, it is not necessary to use needles at all. When treating young children or sensitive adults, there are other effective treatment options. If you have any concerns, please call our office.
